You let me down “ Meet the Press”

image
I didn't want to believe that a political talk show like " Meet the Press" would allow dumbing down its audience for advertising dollars.  The interview that David Gregory had with Michelle Bachman was pretty pathetic and did not meet the standards it once had.  Politicians used to be afraid to face Tim Russert because he would not let 'em spew their talking points instead of answering legitimate questions.  Then again, Tim Russert and those before him always had credible guests.

Michelle Bachman in a trance like state kept repeating "It is shocking the revelations of all the money that's been spent," said Bachmann, R-Minn. "There is a Congressional Research Service report that just was issued in February, and we discovered that secretly, unbeknownst to members of Congress, over $105 billion was hidden in the Obamacare legislation to fund the implementation of Obamacare. This is something that wasn't known."....Just in case you missed her point, she said the number "$105 billion" seven more times, and waved a sign that said "$105,464,000,000."

...Politifact gave a her a "barley true"

[Our conclusion]
Bachmann said that "secretly, unbeknownst to members of Congress, over $105 billion was hidden in the Obamacare legislation." She’s right that there’s about $105 billion of already approved spending in the health care bill that may be difficult to rescind. But that does not mean that the process was secret. While the pre-approved spending provisions didn’t attract media attention, they were in the plain language of the bill and did not vary dramatically from past congressional practice. And the bill was made public before the vote. On balance, we rate Bachmann’s statement Barely True.

She went to call the Obama Administration a" gangster government."...  A credible Sunday political talk show with 60 years  of experience should not lower their standards for advertising dollars. Michelle Bachmann has talk radio and Fox News where she will be more than welcome.

On the local front I thought BigJ wrote a good blog stating his feelings of pride but on cue, three local right-wingers were angered at the mention of president Obama. The question “ Are ethnic theme months necessary?  prompted some typical responses,  so I think BigJ went out on his own  to respond. I may be naive but I thought the board would sit around the table and decide the answers to questions they poll.  I imagine they have the diverse group to poll from. If you got to ask; don't complain or delete when you get the response.

I'm giving odds on the deletions of posts and maybe a poster or two by Sunday night.

I thought BigJ's blog was good, and isn't it a shame that the usual trio of disgruntled republicans (isn't it funny how they now have the majority, and this was supposed to make them happy, but it hasn't?)have to much it up with their hateful spew?

I think it is amusing that these 'Christians' are so hateful when another's opinion doesn't align with theirs...

So true,And they can't leave well enough alone; every little word is scrutinized, so they can find a point of argument.

Today is Ash Wednesday, so my will be tested to carry out my Lenten promise. :-)

So many different threads and opinions on the A & M conversion it's hard to make heads or tails of who is right and who is wrong.

I'm not an expert on local matters but a conversion such as this had to be started a long time ago but the information came out in dribbles and then BAM.

Regarding the UHV mess, I think it is as clear as a new pane of glass.

Friends of friends wanted certain things to happen, and those in charge made sure they did. It is true, much of this was very subtle, and this is what allowed most of it to go unnoticed. Many have been paying close attention, though.

Much of our City and County government has adopted the attitude that they are untouchable, but there are folks who are ready to tell them they are not.

The best I can hope for is that these shysters are not reelected to City Council in May 2012.

While I agree that there's more than meets the eye with the UHV deal, I'm not ready to ever go with the BSspotter conspiracy of the week route. That piece of crap he produced was rightly called out by a TxHunter and spotter's convenient answer was " I didn't accuse anyone of anything, I just put it out there" is a shameless excuse, and if he's wrong he won't have the dignity to apologize.... It causes someone like me to doubt the validity of the charges because with the lack of emails, phone calls, bank records, and other documents it's just another fishing expedition by those that want to get in power, by hook or by crook...IMO

I trust your judgment on the attitude of our city and county government officials, because I don't keep up that much. A complete turnover by the voters might happen, but I will be on the other side of those pulling for Matt Ocker,Chad(BSspotter) and Jeff Williams because they would be worse....IMO

As you know, I can't stand Matt Ocker (with good reason) I even wrote a blog commending the Advocate for the information they produced. It is my opinion that it turned the election because Ocker benefited from an 85% straight party ticket but a few republicans with a conscience voted against him... Of course I can't prove that..... I know the people I mentioned are regular contributors to your blog and good people in your eyes but I think it's wise for us to agree to disagree and just leave it at that....We don't have to agree on everything but I will always respect you and your opinions,so I thought it was important to let you know the truth,as I see it.

Right now I'm on cloud nine because of a couple blogger's kind words...wendymiller22's"reach one, teach one" took me out of the dumps..I'm sure that has been out there a while but it's the first time I've heard it...And when a veteran blogger like SugarMagnolia tells me I am appreciated...That's special.

Perhaps that's a lesson for me to sit back and observe;attack less and continue with my self imposed restrictions.....I still have to be myself,so I might slip now and then.
