Enough already with the Birther issue
I don't blame the media for covering the Birther issue because it’s front and center, now that now that Donald trump has revived the issue. I'm not even surprised that most Victorians don't believe that president Obama was born in the United States, or they don't know. I believe there's a lot of mischief in the local polls. Some don't like the president's policies, and others don't like the person, so why not say it's because he wasn't born in this country. Then again, nationally 51% of republicans don't believe Obama was born in the USA, and about 24% are not sure. What's up with that? There was a time I thought the GOP had some smart people.I was going to post this blog in our local paper's forum, but I thought better of it, because posters like Thor would fill it with nonsense, encouraging others to do the same. I can just imagine all the documented proof from the Freerepublic.com and WorldNetDaily and other right-wing smear sites.
Can you be a reasonable person still have doubts? I don't think so, because anyone can obtain the "index data" of those born in Hawaii between 1960 and 1964. I understand that on page 1,218, there is a computer generated listing of a boy named Barack Hussein Obama II. There is a sign in sheet at the Hawaii vital records office that only the Associated Press and one other person have asked to see that information this month. About 25 people have seen the information since March 2010. In fact, the office has said no one identifying themselves as working for Donald Trump has come forward. Dr. Chiyome Fukino, the state's former health director has looked at the official long form birth records and confirmed that the document includes additional information like the hospital and delivery doctor. The documents belong to the state and they can't be released to anyone, including the president of the United States. Obama could inspect his birth records but the originals are never released. There is microfilm at the Hawaii State library that shows on August 14, 1961 the birth announcement in the Honolulu State bulletin that a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama, on August 4, 1961. The president was born on August 4th, but it is customary that birth announcements are usually a week late.
I could never get into a debate with the Birther because my questions would never be answered. I would start off by asking if Obama's mom was an American citizen. My follow-up question would be " is the state of Hawaii, the Honolulu Advertiser and the Kapi'solani Medical Center for Women and Children (where Obama was born) in on the fraudulent scheme? If they are, for what purpose? I would never get answers for those questions, but they would expect me to believe that Mrs. Obama was sneeked into Hawaii from Kenya to have her baby because she knew her son would eventually be the president of United States. I wonder if the Birthers have asked for passport information during the week of August 4th of 1961. So far, the game has been played on their side of the court with questions of long- form, short form and a quote out of context from the constitution. The country was lured to sleep by the conspirators calling themselves "Birthers" but the right wing followers of Donald Trump think he brought some legitimacy to the issue. It's the same issue but this time it was brought forward by a different wacko.

You know that if someone produced the birth certificate for all to see, someone would say it's a fake.
You know that if someone produced the doctor who delivered the baby, someone would say he's a fake.
And I could go on and on.
I would have a whole lot more respect for some folks if they would just come on out and say they don't like him because he's black or whatever their issue is. This business of, "Well, I don't think he was born in America..." is just crap.
It is just amazing to me that some of these local farts think they know more than the folks in D. C. I think they missed their calling as political advisors. That's what they get for staying in Victoria!

I got a kick out of the qualifications Obama has to meet, according to our local poster topsarge..... He said he had to meet qualifications of getting a Texas driver's license... The president needs qualifications to get a Hawaiian or Illinois driver's license; he just needs to qualify in his state....Yes, they will always move the goal post but they should gather up all their evidence and take it to court again. Paying outrageous lawyer fees does not seem to faze them because they are funded by people like the Koch brothers who want this issue out there.
Congratulations on the brand new granddaughter.....As you know, reading your blog is is one of the first things I do in the morning.
The people I know who loathe Obama loathed Clinton for the same reason, and it wasn't because of race.
Wow,I can see where that is true on many fronts but I'm not really sure why you think that......I think at least 30% of it is race driven and some disliked Clinton because of his good relations with minorities...Loathed is a strong word.
It's true for the people I know. I hang with Tea Partiers, btw. They were conservative before Obama.
Thanks, Mike. I'm headed back to Austin with the big brother tomorrow.
I forgot how much work 2 year olds are...

A few years ago I wrote a blog about people that did not accept Bill Clinton as a rightful heirs to the throne....Is this that what you meant?
No. Just saying that the people I have heard griping about Obama, don't have a problem with race, just ideology.
I understand ideology and I'm fine with that..I didn't like President George W. Bush but I didn't make stuff up like the Birther issue......Thanks for taking the time to clear that up......Again,it's a national issue supported by one group because 84% of Democrats think President Obama is a citizen by birth.
At Easter gatherings, I only heard someone griping about 'vegans,' because one of our guests was a vegan. I heard something like, "Muslims want us all to be vegan like them." And I said, "Muslims don't eat PORK. It's the Indians who are usually vegan - and it's better for you. In fact, the bible says that we can eat crickets and grasshoppers." AND THEN IT WAS SILENT.
But, not as silent as when I told my family that men can lactate. Seriously, men can nurse their young.
And THAT is the good thing about family. They can't take away your membership.
Rebecca
They can't cancel your membership altogether but they can disinherit you, leave you off the guest list, and not return the calls... :-)
I thought you were to give me a more deep- seated answer for your friends not liking Clinton or Obama....
Nah. I hear it so much, I'm numb.
Rebecca - get your ass outta Victoria!
I did!
I'm still waiting for the "Birthers" to come forward but they will find some websites to dispute the long form,so I expect Thor to post another blog...Will he have a following?
I hope not.
You know, back when I was screaming about cutting taxes, I did not mean by getting rid of schools and teachers. It seems like the candidates that had the support of the tea party got in there and did everything but cut pork. That really really bothers me.
I don't know what that had to do with "birthers."
Rebecca
In order to keep public services, taxes has to be part of the equation...Tea Party wants to cut government spending down to bare bones but that is not responsible or intelligent....The Tea Party should have spent some time attacking insurance companies and Wall Street.
